Independent advisory firm
Deciding where digital assets create value.
Kaern supports aid and development actors in deciding whether, where and how stablecoins and Bitcoin create value in their programmes: cross-border payments and remittances, treasury protection, payments to beneficiaries.
The starting point
A question of alignment, first of all
In many contexts across the Global South, digital financial uses emerge in incomplete or unstable environments. The problem is not, first and foremost, a lack of technology, nor a lack of understanding of the tools.
It is a lack of alignment between the available tools (digital assets, mobile money, cash), real-world uses, structural constraints and social dynamics.
Digital assets create value when they are well placed: when they genuinely improve people’s ability to navigate these constraints. Kaern works to bring together the conditions for that right placement.
Why Kaern
An independent opinion, backed by a proprietary method
-
No stake in the answerNo solution to sell, no commission that steers the opinion. The recommendation never depends on the tool chosen.
-
Value, made measurableThe Kaern Value Framework (KVF) tests each setup across seven dimensions: economics, access, performance, resilience, security, adoption, institutional impact.
-
A corridor-by-corridor readingThe Kaern Digital Money Readiness Index (KDMRI) compares, for each context, regulation, dollar access, liquidity, cash-out cost, fraud, resilience.
